Moroccan Singer Decries Global Suppression of Socially Conscious Art

Moroccan singer Saïda Fikri loudly expresses her aversion to corrupt personalities who hate and fight committed art.
Committed art is fought all over the world, and not just in Morocco, Saïda Fikri said in a statement to Al Omk. To support her point, she says she has noticed during her visits to several countries that committed song, which aims to raise awareness, is often marginalized. Corrupt personalities hate and fight committed art, while those who are refined, who love their country and seek to make it progress, support serious culture that reflects society, added the Moroccan singer.
According to Fikri, art must be the mirror of its time and its society. But some artists do not grasp the true artistic mission, due to the diversity of the motivations that led them to embrace this field, she notes, specifying that some are only looking for financial gain, aspire to entertain, while others are mere intruders who ignore the reasons for their presence in the showbiz.
Fikri describes herself as being among those who wish to raise the level of awareness of their entourage, while acknowledging that her opinion is not imposed on everyone. Some consider her music as melancholic, while others perceive it as the voice of the people and a committed art, a recognition of which she says she is proud. At one time, the Moroccan singer had to make concessions in order to meet her audience. Recently, she has decided not to deal with these organizers anymore.
