Moroccan Singer Arrested in Dubai for Flouting COVID-19 Restrictions at Birthday Party

The Dubai police arrested the Moroccan actress and singer, Mariam Hussein, for violating the preventive measures imposed by the United Arab Emirates authorities.
According to local media, two restaurants in Dubai were booked by the Moroccan artist for the organization of her birthday party. The parties took place without any respect for barrier gestures or social distancing.
The singer, who had been sentenced earlier this year to prison and deportation from the country, also broadcast the evening live on her Snapchat account. This attitude, in the opinion of the same sources, denotes a total disregard for the rules in force.
According to the Penal Code of the United Arab Emirates, gatherings in public places and parties of a public or private nature during the state of health emergency are punishable by a fine of 30,000 Moroccan dirhams.
