Moroccan TV Series Sparks Outrage Over ’Vulgar’ Language During Ramadan

Viewers of the Laayoune TV channel have widely expressed their anger over the use of a "vulgar" word by an actress in a scene from the Moroccan series Garfaf, which aired during the month of Ramadan.
The sequence of the scene where the actress pronounced a "vulgar" word has gone viral on social media. Internet users expressed their anger at the use of this word in this production, which is very popular with Moroccan families, considering that this word "is not appropriate for the sacred month nor for a media supposed to address the Moroccan family with respect and professionalism".
The use of this "vulgar" word in the Garfaf series is not an isolated case, but the latest blunder in a series committed by the Laayoune TV channel, deplored the internet users, holding the channel’s management responsible for allowing the broadcast of this series containing inappropriate expressions, during the month of Ramadan 2025.
The Garfaf series is written by Fatiha Boujdour and directed by Younes Reggab. It addresses social themes, such as greed, financial conflicts between families, etc.
