Moroccan TV Series Sparks Backlash Over Jewish Lead Actress Amid Gaza Conflict

Activists have called on the 2M channel to suspend the broadcast of the series Nass el mellah in which the Moroccan Jewish actress Eva Kadosh plays the lead role.
The participation of the Jewish actress in the series directed by Jamila Borji has sparked the indignation of a group of Moroccans who do not see it favorably that the lead role has been given to Eva Kadosh in a Moroccan production.
During the demonstrations in support of Palestine in Rabat, these Moroccans called on the 2M channel to suspend the broadcast of the series, citing the context of the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Some even went so far as to ask the producers of the series to apologize to the public for having chosen Eva Kadouche as the main actress.
In the series, Eva Kadouche plays the role of Messouda, a Moroccan Jewish woman who lived in reality in the Derb Lalla Laaroussa neighborhood in Essaouira. She is presented in the production as a model, a kind woman, with great moral qualities and affable towards all the customers of her restaurant.
