Moroccan Seasonal Workers Give Birth in Spain, Return Home with Newborns Amid Pandemic

Having left Morocco between January and March to join Huelva in Spain to participate in the strawberry campaign, five pregnant women got stranded there due to the closure of borders because of the Covid-19 health crisis. Unable to return, they had to give birth on site.
Pregnant upon arrival, the five women ended up giving birth in Huelva, unable to return to Morocco due to the closure of borders because of covid-19.
They gave birth to Omar (born on June 15), Mariam (June 6), Abdrrahim (May 30), Saja (May 9) and Rayan (May 29), at the Juan Ramón Jiménez hospital, reports the newspaper l’Opinion.
On Saturday, the five women were repatriated to Morocco. In a few days, they will be able to join their families, the time to undergo the covid-19 test and observe the 14-day quarantine, as provided for in the current health protocol.
In total, 7,200 Moroccan workers are still awaiting repatriation from Spain. They are eagerly awaiting the opening of the Moroccan borders.
