Moroccan Runner Triumphs at Belfast Marathon, Ethiopian Wins Women’s Race

Moroccan athlete Mohamed Oumaarir won the Belfast marathon in Northern Ireland on Sunday, which was attended by several thousand people.
Mohamed Oumaarir wins in two hours 22 minutes and 54 seconds ahead of Welshman Adam Bowden who finishes in 2:23:26, reports the BBC. The podium is completed by Bernard Rotich, the favorite of the marathon and winner of the 2017 edition, who crosses the finish line in 2:26:03.
In the women’s race, it is the Ethiopian Shewaye Woldemeskel who wins easily in 2:37:20. She thus beats the Irishwoman Gladys Ganiel, winner of the 2022 edition. The Ethiopian Gadise Negasa takes third place in 2:44:24.
The Belfast Marathon (or Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon) is an annual marathon in Belfast, Northern Ireland, jointly organized by Belfast City Council and Northern Ireland Athletics. The race is divided into several categories: men, women, relay, veterans and wheelchairs.
