Moroccan Runner Reda Jaafar Denies Doping, Claims Poisoning After Positive EPO Test

On November 8, 2018, Reda Jaafar, an athlete licensed to Amiens UC, tested positive for EPO, while he had stopped running, after being assaulted. The runner, through several publications, has protested against the accusations which, for him, are likely to tarnish his image.
The year 2019 had nevertheless started well for the Moroccan runner with a first victory in the interclubs in February. But here he is splashed by an affair at the end of which his ambition to participate in the Olympic Games could be compromised.
"Why dope when I had no activity for several months? That would be stupid!" says Reda Jaafar in the columns of Midi libre. According to the runner, this anti-doping control sounds like a settling of scores.
The Moroccan athlete who claims to be a clean runner says he has never resorted to doping. "I fell ill during the treatment. I think I was poisoned," writes Midi libre, quoting the runner.
Doping by poisoning is the line of defense with which the Moroccan athlete, who is asking to be cleared of all suspicion, intends to fight before the national instances of French athletics and the anti-doping fight.
