Moroccan Runner Honored in France After 2,500km Journey to Hometown

Abder El-Badaoui receives the honors of his adopted city. The Moroccan-born athlete accomplished the feat of running for a month to reach Bzou, his hometown in Morocco.
2500 km in total, from Auxerre to Bzou. This Moroccan athlete who arrived in Auxerre in 1988 received the city medal from the hands of Mayor Guy Férez. He managed to reach his hometown, Bzou, in Morocco in a month.
According to L’Yonne République, it was on June 5 that Abder El-Badaoui embarked on a month-long journey, covering about 200 km per week, at a rate of two marathons per day of running and an average of about nine kilometers per hour, to reach his hometown.
But he was not alone on his journey. He was accompanied by a whole team who helped him plan his trip. "Luckily my physio was there to provide care and help my body get used to the effort, the first week," the athlete said during the medal presentation.
