Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie Produces 17 Million Medical Masks Amid Pandemic

The Mask Manufacturing Unit (UFM) of the Royal Gendarmerie is running at full capacity and has already produced 17 million masks since February.
According to the Map, between February and May 2020, the factory, operational since 2009 in the Benslimane region, was able to produce around 14 million FFP2 masks and 3 million surgical masks. In doing so, it meets the international standards "EN149 + A1 2009" and "EN14683 2014" respectively.
The UFM, labeled with the CE (European Community) certification, was created to provide Morocco with a strategic stock. It also produces locally, but remains independent of foreign countries; which would allow it to cope with a possible epidemic surge, similar to that of avian flu, the H1N1 flu or Ebola.
For the director of the UFM, Lieutenant-Colonel Charif El Ayadi, production is also intended to meet the needs of certain public departments, such as the Ministry of Health and the Military Health Inspectorate. They will also be made available to the medical staff involved in the care of covid-19 patients.
In this unit, more than 80 technicians, electromechanics and administrative staff ensure continuous production every day of the week.
