Moroccan Retail Giant Marjane Waives Rent for Tenants Amid COVID-19 Shutdown

The subsidiary of the Al Mada group, Marjane Holding, has just given a gift to its partner tenants in this period of great crisis for the retail sector. It has canceled their rent from March 20, 2020 until the date of reopening of shopping centers and galleries, and at the latest until June 10, 2020.
In a press release, the subsidiary recalled the critical health situation that has forced the government to impose the health emergency measure, "made necessary to limit the spread of the epidemic".
Aware of the cessation of activity of many commercial tenant partners in the galleries, centers and business parks, the historic player in commercial real estate in Morocco has made this decision for the benefit of tenants whose businesses have been closed (excluding charges).
According to the same source, this exceptional measure will be effective upon the joint signing of an addendum to the commercial lease contract specifying the implementation modalities with each of the tenants.
The subsidiary also invites all its tenant partners to combine their efforts in preparing for the resumption of their respective commercial activities. It has also called on them to work for the revival of this important sector for the national economy, while ensuring the adoption of health protection measures for their teams and their customers.
