Moroccan Resident Returns Lost Wallet with €1,550 to Spanish Police

Ali El Aloui, a 34-year-old Moroccan living in Onda, returned the 1,550 euros he found in an ATM to the local police. This is not his first honest gesture.
The money belonged to a woman who, after receiving a phone call, forgot her fabric wallet on the ATM keyboard. "I saw that there was a lot of money, but the truth is I didn’t count it," he said.
After making sure with the Civil Guard that no one had reported the loss of a large sum of money, Ali decided to turn the wallet over to the Onda local police.
The officers were surprised by his honesty and thanked him for his gesture. "I never thought of keeping it... If it happened to me, I would like them to act the same way with me," said the Moroccan.
This is not the first time Ali has found a valuable object or item and returned it. According to him, he had already picked up a wallet in Onda. "There were about 70 euros in cash and several credit cards; and like today, I returned it to the authorities," he recounts. Before that, it was a cell phone he found in Benicarló, which he also brought to the police.
