Moroccan Religious Leader Slams Popular Ramadan Comedy Series for Lack of Substance

The president of the Moroccan Association for Peace and Transmission, Cheikh Mohammed Al Fizazi, criticized the comedian Mohammed Bassou for his series "Si Al Kala" broadcast on his YouTube page during this Ramadan month, saying that he is only "replacing one evil with another".
"Bassou created the event with his comedy series (Si Al Kala) on social networks. He thus reached millions of views, which the official channels could not achieve with their huge budgets. In my opinion, the reason why a large number of citizens criticize this series dedicated to Ramadan is that it lacks creativity and the subjects are not educational, nor are the messages constructive in a dramatic or comic framework. That is to say, the subjects, in general, do not address the real concerns of citizens," wrote Al Fizazi in a Facebook post.
He continued: "However, I have many objections to what this comedian has presented. First, those who watch his works come away with the impression that the country is mired in corruption at all levels and in all areas, and that the corrupt fill the institutions, sectors, ministries, businesses, etc. And it does not seem that there is anyone good or reformist among them. This is a question that deserves reflection. Because there are many honest people and many who are devoted to their homeland... The situation presented by our actor Bassou is extremely offensive to the nation."
