Moroccan Professor Gets 2-Year Sentence for Sexual Harassment of Students

The university professor involved in the sexual blackmail case targeting female students in exchange for good grades at the University of Hassan 1st in Settat, was sentenced on Wednesday to two years in prison.
Already in pre-trial detention at the agricultural prison of Ali Moumen, the teacher was found guilty of "indecent assault", "violence" and "sexual harassment" before the criminal chamber of the Settat Court of Appeal. He has a ten-day deadline to appeal this decision.
The case dates back to last September after the dissemination on social networks of sexually explicit messages exchanged between one of the prosecuted professors and his students. Since then, several cases of sexual harassment suffered by female students from their professors within Moroccan universities have been revealed to the public.
In addition to the main defendant, four other professors must appear this Thursday in the same scandal. They face serious charges: "incitement to debauchery", "gender-based discrimination", "violence against women".
