Moroccan Professor Sentenced to 1 Year for Sexual Harassment of Students

Prosecuted for "sexual harassment and blackmail," a professor at the King Fahd School of Translation in Tangier has just been sentenced to one year in prison by the Court of First Instance in Tangier.
The professor must pay compensation of 50,000 dirhams and a fine of 5,000 dirhams for being found guilty of harassment and sexual assault on female students.
In a few months, the Moroccan educational environment has been shaken by numerous cases of blackmail, harassment and sexual assault suffered by students at the hands of their professors. Fortunately, victims have broken the silence in order to obtain justice.
In force since 2018 in Morocco, the law against sexual harassment punishes proven acts of sexual harassment in public, professional and university places, even if women’s rights defense associations believe that the text needs to be strengthened so that the penalties provided for are commensurate with the discredit brought to the emancipation of Moroccan women.
