Moroccan Private Sector Doctor Dies from COVID-19, Highlighting Lack of Protections

Dr. Mustafa Haki, who was on duty in a private clinic in Sidi Moumen, died last Monday from the effects of Covid-19. The National Syndical College of Private Specialist Physicians (CSNMSP) pays tribute to the memory of a man who died "as a martyr".
In a statement, the CSNMSP expressed its pride in the sacrifices made by doctors from both the public and private sectors who are on the front line of the fight against the coronavirus. The college offered its sincere condolences to the family of the illustrious deceased. It also drew the attention of the authorities to the fact that the martyr, like all practicing physicians in the private sector in Morocco, did not enjoy any social protection and retirement system.
In view of these tragedies, the CSNMSP plans to set up, as far as health coverage and retirement for private physicians are concerned, an affiliation in accordance with the recent royal speech delivered on the Throne Feast, during which the sovereign stressed "the need to generalize social coverage as soon as possible, for all and extended to all community groups," the same source said.
