Moroccan Prep Schools Dominate Polytechnique Admissions 2026
With 57 eligible candidates at École Polytechnique in 2026, Moroccan preparatory classes record a 14% increase. The national educational landscape is diversifying with the emergence of new high-performing scientific hubs to join the global elite.
The biggest surprise of this 2026 edition comes from Martil. LYMED high school saw its number of eligible candidates skyrocket by 300%, rising from three to twelve selected students. With classes limited to 55 scholarship students, this institution boasts a formidable success rate of 22%. This small size fosters mutual support, as one parent explains: "What my son found here is a human-scale environment and a very strong team spirit. It’s this balance and personalized support that made the difference for the competition."

This meteoric breakthrough illustrates the overall transformation of Morocco’s educational ecosystem. As Le360 analyzes, the highest-level offering is no longer limited to a single dominant player. The expansion of this talent pool has boosted the total number of selected candidates to 57 this year, compared to 50 in 2025, confirming uninterrupted growth momentum.
Facing this new competition, the Benguerir Excellence High School (LYDEX) maintains its status as historical leader. The institution has 26 eligible candidates out of its 148 students enrolled in the second year. Although it records a decline compared to the exceptional figure of 38 selected last year, it still represents more than 45% of the panel’s laureates.
The Al Zahrawi-Abulcasis structure is the other engine of this national evolution. Born from a public-private partnership, this school propelled 17 candidates to the famous French engineering school, compared to only 6 in the previous session. This 183% jump is accompanied by an expansion of enrollment, rising from 89 to 104 students, and a qualification rate climbing from 7% to 16%.

Regardless of the final ranking, Moroccan academic excellence has already consolidated its place on the international stage.
