Moroccan Ports See 5.5% Trade Increase Despite Global Challenges

The National Ports Agency (ANP), according to data recorded on April 21, 2020, reports an increase in trade through Moroccan ports. These exchanges have increased by 5.5% to 28.7 million tons.
According to the details provided by the ANP, this increase is justified by the massive arrivals of "cereal traffic which has increased by 34% to 3.1 million tons", a strong performance of fertilizers and raw phosphate with "respective growth rates of 64.8% and 6.4%, and a maintenance of container traffic in TEUs with a slight increase of 1.3%".
However, there is a decline in overall hydrocarbon traffic. It is also noted a clear evolution of activities at the main commercial ports. For example, the port of Casablanca experienced an increase of +5.7%; that of Jorf Lasfar is at +12.4% and the port of Agadir comes out with an increase of +5.8%.
In order to ensure the continuity of activities, a series of measures have been put in place by the ANP, in collaboration with its various partners in the port ecosystem "in order to guarantee the supply of the country with products, under the best health conditions".
