Moroccan Port Tanger Med Climbs to 3rd in Global Performance Ranking

Tanger Med improves its position in the global ranking of port performance (CPPI). This is the result of the annual report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
With a score of 159.6 points, Tanger Med rises to the 3rd position in the 2024 global ranking of port performance (CPPI), thus gaining two places compared to the previous year. The Moroccan port far outpaces many international ports, including that of Algeciras in Spain, ranked 12th with 142.3 points, and that of Port Said in Egypt, 16th with 131.2 points.
Tanger Med owes this breakthrough to Morocco’s sustained efforts to optimize its port infrastructure and strengthen its logistics competitiveness, thus helping to boost trade and attract more investment. This feat is also explained by the modernization of the port. This includes the introduction of a digital electronic seal platform, an innovative tool that will allow cargo to be tracked and secured in real time, reducing the risk of fraud, accelerating customs procedures and improving the operational efficiency of the port.
A logistics supervision tactical center, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, has also been set up to manage freight flows, monitor operations in real time and manage any crises.
