Moroccan Political Leader Under Fire for Labeling Newspaper ’Zionist’

Following the "violent and insulting" remarks made by Abdelilah Benkirane, Secretary General of the PJD, against a number of media outlets, the Moroccan Association of Media and Publishers (AMME) reacted to denounce an act that is detrimental to ethics.
In a statement, the AMME criticized the former Head of Government for having made incendiary remarks against the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, describing it in turn as "Zionist", an "intruder" and a newspaper that "works against the principles and values".
This attack by the Islamist PJD party, which is not the first of its kind, is a blatant call for violence, the association deplored.
The National Press Council must assume its responsibilities for the protection of the media and journalists from such acts and resort to all legal means to counter any attempt at intimidation they are subjected to, concluded the AMME.
