With a view to finding business opportunities in Poland, in the textile sector, the Moroccan Association of Exporters (ASMEX), in collaboration with the Harvard Consulting firm, recently held a webinar.
At the end of this webinar, the Head of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency Office, Maciej Klosak, indicated that during the pandemic, trade between Morocco and Poland has increased by more than 25%. In a press release, ASMEX stresses that exports between the two countries reached more than $1 billion in 2020. This amount represents $437.6 million in exports from Poland to Morocco and $617.4 million in exports from Morocco to Poland. A figure achieved mainly thanks to the increase in purchases of clothing and textile products.
Moreover, the prospects look promising for the Polish market, as in a few years, 24,000 family businesses will be for sale, said Maryline Bertheau. In addition, the retail and e-commerce sectors constitute an opportunity for Moroccan exporters, ASMEX stressed. On the import side, those from Morocco represent 43.2% of textiles, or a value of $267 million, the transport sector products represent $86.3 million, minerals for a value of $80.7 million, plant-based products amount to $59.3 million and mechanical and electrical products, $42.5 million. For its part, Morocco mainly imports mechanical and electrical and transport products.
Ranked among the 25 most developed countries in the world, Poland represents, according to the participants, a regional hub in Europe, making it a large Central European market with 38 million inhabitants and a GDP per capita of €13,600/year, with industry and services as its main sectors of activity.
