Moroccan Police Disperse Protests Against COVID Vaccine Pass Requirement

The government’s decision to require the vaccine pass in public places is still causing a lot of discontent. Several demonstrations were observed on Sunday in several Moroccan cities.
It should be remembered that from the first hours of this government decision, an online petition mobilized the signatures of thousands of citizens and personalities from several fields, to demand "a debate and moratorium" on the vaccine pass.
In addition, calls launched on social networks received the adhesion of hundreds of protesters who stormed the streets of major cities such as Rabat, Tangier, Fez, Agadir and Casablanca.
The security forces dispersed several demonstrations and arrested anti-pass protesters who were chanting hostile slogans against the vaccine pass. "No to the pass. The people want the pass to fall," could be read for example in Casablanca.
To recall, since October 21, the vaccine pass is required in all public places and for travel. This decision is already bearing fruit, as official figures indicate that more than 22 million Moroccans have received a second dose of the anti-Covid vaccine.
