Moroccan Police Deny COVID-19 Closures, Affirm Continued Operations

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has formally denied the information reporting the quarantine and closure of premises and police stations due to the contamination of its officials with covid-19.
The police services are part of the sensitive security establishments subject to the crisis management protocol allowing them to continue their security activities and provide their services to citizens, without suspension or postponement of their vital missions, the DGSN specifies, trying to put an end to the rumors relayed by traditional media and on social networks.
The DGSN states that all laboratory analyses carried out by the specialized medical services, to which the staff of a security district under the Tetouan police prefecture, which is the subject of the alleged quarantine on the grounds of the confirmed contamination of one of its officials, have been negative, ensuring that all officials are in good health and continue their work.
In total, 39 cases of contamination have been confirmed among police officers nationwide since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in Morocco, of which eight have fully recovered according to the tests carried out. The 31 others are under medical care and in health isolation pending their recovery, the DGSN said.
It also assures that all preventive measures and necessary precautions for the protection of police officers in the exercise of their duties, namely the protection of individuals and property, have been taken. And, the interest of the homeland and the guarantee of the health safety of citizens remain the supreme objective and the essential expected goal of all national security officials, concludes the statement.
