Moroccan-Plated Car Clocked at 204 km/h: Spanish Police Arrest Malaga Resident in High-Speed Highway Drama

The Civil Guard arrested a 31-year-old man in El Ejido (Almería) for speeding with a Moroccan-registered car on a highway near Motril.
The events took place on May 29th last. Agents of the Civil Guard of Granada set up a speed control on the A-7 highway near Motril and in the downhill direction, detecting a vehicle registered in Morocco traveling at a speed of 204 km/h on a section where the maximum speed allowed is 100 km/h.
The agents alerted the patrols on duty, as well as the headquarters of the traffic sub-sector of the Civil Guard of Almeria in order to intercept the vehicle. The civil guards of El Ejido (Almeria) finally managed to get their hands on the car, relays El Economista.
The driver, residing in Malaga, was arrested. The defendant is accused of speeding, an offense punishable by the Spanish Penal Code. He faces sentences ranging from three to six months in prison, a fine, and 31 to 90 days of community service. The defendant will also be banned from driving motor vehicles for a period of one to four years.
