Moroccan Pilots’ Union Challenges Royal Air Maroc’s Mass Layoffs, Demands Reinstatement

The office of the Moroccan Association of Airline Pilots (AMPL) is preparing to counter-attack regarding the "abusive" economic dismissal of 65 pilots and captains carried out by Royal Air Maroc.
At the end of this AMPL meeting which took place by videoconference, the airline pilots have planned a consultation in order to prepare the response to these layoffs. Pending its holding, the pilots demand a reduction in the salaries of airline pilots to the extent of the savings on the payroll induced by the layoffs, and the immediate reinstatement of the 65 laid-off employees.
Several other measures are planned to force the hand of the top management of the airline, including, among others, a strike notice, the wearing of an armband from September 3, 2020 and for the duration of the social crisis, as well as a "collective media action".
As for the consultation, it will be held from Monday, August 31 at 10 a.m. until Wednesday, September 2 at 7 p.m. The AMPL also invites all airline pilots to "double their vigilance, rigor and commitment".
