Moroccan Pilots Protest Layoffs at Royal Air Maroc Headquarters in Casablanca

Members of the Moroccan Association of Airline Pilots (AMPL) have once again held their rally in front of the Royal Air Maroc (RAM) headquarters in Casablanca. They are protesting against the "abusive dismissal" of their members.
It has become a daily gathering. The AMPL is fighting for the reinstatement of its members who are victims of "abusive dismissal". The governor of Hay Hassani had given RAM the green light to cut jobs on August 31. The airline has laid off 140 employees for economic reasons. These are 65 pilots, 59 commercial flight crew members and 16 ground staff.
These layoffs have not been to the liking of the AMPL, which has engaged in a tug-of-war with RAM management. It demands the immediate reinstatement of the 65 laid-off pilots. However, it has made proposals to the airline, which have not yet received its approval.
The sit-ins have become a means of pressure for the AMPL on the management of the airline. However, these demonstrations come at a time when closed-door meetings are being held bringing together management and staff members. RAM is preparing for a new wave of layoffs. Its CEO Abdelhamid Addou has also exchanged with around forty pilots during the week.
