Moroccan Phosphate Giant OCP Challenges US Fertilizer Import Duties in Court

Now, any import of Moroccan phosphate fertilizers to the United States must be subject to countervailing duties. Following this decision by the US authorities, the OCP group has just appealed.
In an announcement published on its website, the OCP Group stated that it has appealed the decisions that led to the requirement of countervailing duties on imports of Moroccan phosphate fertilizers into the US market. The appeal was filed with the US Court of International Trade.

Thus, "this procedure aims to challenge the unfounded decisions of the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and the US Department of Commerce (DOC) regarding the injury caused to the local fertilizer industry and the rate applied," OCP specified, stressing that the group "will also intervene against the appeal procedure initiated by Mosaic aimed at increasing the level of duties applied".
It should be noted that "these actions are part of the continuity of the efforts made by the OCP Group to oppose the unfounded application of these countervailing duties, and in the desire to continue to serve American farmers by enabling them to secure a reliable and diversified supply of adapted and high-quality fertilizers," it stressed.
