Moroccan Fertilizer Giant OCP Challenges US Tariffs on Phosphate Imports

The decision of the US Department of Commerce to apply preliminary countervailing duties of 23.46% on imports of phosphate fertilizers from Morocco has elicited a reaction from the OCP Group. It finds no basis for this imposition.
According to the OCP Group, this decision is based on an unfounded request from Mosaic. "[...] These measures are detrimental to American farmers by depriving them of access to a reliable source of high-quality fertilizers, at a time when American agriculture is already grappling with a continuous decline in its income in recent years," reacted the OCP Group management, who added: "We remain confident that the continuation of the process will demonstrate the lack of grounds for the imposition of countervailing duties on Moroccan fertilizer imports."
The Group, which is pleased with the good collaboration with the competent authorities during this first phase, is determined to defend its position during the second phase of the process, which will end by March 2021, the same source said.
The OCP Group is committed to remaining a privileged and innovative partner of American farmers.
