The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) announced the death of two Moroccan peacekeepers, which occurred on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in Bangassou, in the southeast of the country.
It was on its Twitter account that MINUSCA announced this sad news. A ceremony was held on Tuesday during which the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in the Central African Republic, Valentine Rugwabiza, and the MINUSCA leadership paid tribute to the two Moroccan soldiers.
According to an official source, they would have drowned "while bathing in the river" in Rafaï, 700 km east of the capital Bangui, near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). "Their remains will be repatriated to Morocco," MINUSCA added.
