Moroccan Parliament Probes Spain’s Hosting of Polisario Leader Amid Diplomatic Tensions

The Brahim Ghali affair is also a concern for the Moroccan Parliament. It was at the heart of the meeting on Tuesday of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense and Moroccans Residing Abroad within the House of Advisors.
The Committee met to learn more about the latest developments regarding the hosting by Spain of Brahim Ghali, a statement from Parliament said.
In this document, all members of the committee declare that "in line with the decision to summon the Spanish ambassador to Rabat, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to ask him for the necessary clarifications on the unprecedented decision taken by the Spanish authorities" [...], "constituting a serious attack on the strategic interests of the two countries", they disapprove of "the initiative of the Spanish authorities to welcome the so-called Brahim Ghali, since the latter is accused of war crimes and serious human rights violations".
They also call on "the Spanish authorities to interact favorably with the complaints filed by the victims and to activate the prosecution procedure against the so-called Brahim Ghali". This approach comes in support of "the firmness and clarity adopted by Moroccan diplomacy".
They welcome the "efforts of the Kingdom to defend territorial integrity within international bodies, particularly the Security Council, the implementation of the development project and the sustained dynamic of the opening of consulates of friendly countries in the Moroccan Saharan provinces".
