Moroccan Officials Debunk Viral Videos of Wild Boars in Cities, Confirm Foreign Origin

Photos and videos have been circulating on social media for a few weeks, which would show several dozen wild boars roaming the streets of Ifrane and Kenitra (Sidi Boughaba). The Department of Water and Forests has returned to these publications to locate the population and invite it to serenity.
According to the supervisory ministry, the Department of Water and Forests has conducted investigations which have shown that these are photos and videos taken and filmed outside Morocco. The video showing a herd of wild boars circulating in the streets of Ifrane would actually have been filmed in Switzerland, the statement said, adding that another video that would have been filmed in the Sidi Boughaba biological reserve, near the city of Kenitra, was actually taken in Spain.
Furthermore, the Department of Water and Forests has assured that it has sent, since the announcement of the confinement, "a note to all its units for the monitoring of wildlife, particularly wild boar, in order to collect all the elements for assessing the risk to the inhabitants and their property". So the risk of wild boars roaming the streets of the kingdom, endangering the safety of the population, is very low.
