Wild Boars Invade Upscale Rabat Neighborhoods, Alarming Residents

Souissi and Hay Ryad, two residential neighborhoods of the capital Rabat, were overrun by a horde of wild animals. Indeed, under the anguish of winter, wild boars have left the surrounding forests, in search of food, disrupting the peace of the populations.
A scene that surprises every inhabitant of these two neighborhoods of the capital. Never before have Souissi and Hay Ryad experienced such an event. A totally unusual fact: residents of these two residential neighborhoods come across wild boars, escaped from the Zaërs forests, on the road leading from the town of Ain Aouda to the town of Benslimane.
From these forests, located 20 km southeast of Rabat, "a real herd, composed of at least ten wild boars" escaped last Friday, January 10, 2020, according to Le360.
In reality, the management of this invasion of wild animals falls under the responsibility of the High Commission for Water and Forests and the Fight against Desertification, says an official of the Wilaya of Rabat, who confided in the media. According to the latter, "this is the first time that these wild boars have been roaming the streets, especially those of the Hay Ryad neighborhood". Now, "these beasts are prowling the streets of Rabat", lament officials of Hay Ryad, including elected officials.
Curiously, notes the same source, Abdeladim Lhafi, High Commissioner for Water and Forests, has not yet reacted. This angers the residents of these neighborhoods who fear for their lives.
