Moroccan Official Welcomes African Migrants, Urges COVID-19 Safety in Viral Video

A caïd went to the residence of sub-Saharan migrants to raise awareness about the measures taken to counter the coronavirus pandemic. The publication of the video of his visit has become viral on social networks.
Megaphone in hand, the caïd delivered a reassuring message to sub-Saharan migrants during this period of confinement due to coronavirus. "Dear African friends, you are all welcome. This is your home. [...] We are here to serve you. Welcome to your second African country. Don’t panic and stay home," he told them.
The sub-Saharan migrants welcomed this initiative of the caïd. They did not hesitate to applaud him. The dissemination of the video of the scene triggered an avalanche of comments on the web. Moroccans appreciated this initiative of the local authorities, noting that it is difficult to live in a health emergency situation far from one’s country of origin.
