Moroccan Official Arrested for Photographing Royal Convoy in Marrakech

An authority agent from the Menara district in Marrakech was arrested last Sunday to explain the photos he took of the convoy of King Mohammed VI. Several other arrests were made for more or less similar reasons.

By taking photos of the royal convoy, a Moqaddem was caught in the act by the security services to explain the reasons that prompted him to do so, reports the newspaper Al Massae. The sovereign was to inaugurate several projects in the Mellah of the ochre city.

An obstruction of the convoy, followed by an arrest, was also recorded at the level of Avenue 11 Janvier, near Bab Doukkala. The authorities seized dozens of letters of complaint that people wished to hand over to the king.

King Mohammed VI was to inaugurate several economic projects in Marrakech and the surrounding area (notably in Tidli Misfiwa, Moulay Brahim and in the commune of Isni). The program also included official meetings and a visit to the El Haouz region.
