Moroccan Official Arrested for DUI After Collision in Tétouan

The president of the Chefchaouen Municipal Council was arrested and then placed in custody for drunk driving that caused a road accident that occurred in the Jbel Darsa district of Tétouan. Prosecuted, the leader of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) faces up to one year in prison and/or a fine of 10,000 dirhams.
The PAM leader is involved in a road accident. As he was crossing the Jbel Darsa district of Tétouan, his car collided with another car driven by a woman, reports Al Akhbar. Injured, she was taken to the emergency room of the provincial hospital of Saniat Rmel. The police arrested the president of the municipal council of Chefchaouen. On the orders of the competent prosecutor’s office near the court of first instance of Tétouan, he was placed in custody. An investigation has been opened. The accused is said to have hidden his drinks near the scene of the accident so that they would not be seized.
The court of first instance of Tétouan decided not to return the accused’s driver’s license. Now prosecuted for drunk driving that caused a road accident, material damage and injuries to the passengers of the other car, he faces a sentence of six months to one year in prison or a fine of 5,000 to 10,000 dirhams.
