Moroccan Local Official Arrested for Drunk Driving, Released on Bail

The elements of the judicial police of Ben Debbab-Ain Kadous arrested on Sunday the president of the commune of Ain Bou Ali, while he was driving under the influence of alcohol on the road between Fez and Meknes.
The member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) is being prosecuted on provisional release by the public prosecutor’s office of the court of first instance of Fez for driving under the influence of manifest drunkenness and driving under the influence, after having paid a bail of 10,000 dirhams. The friend who accompanied him was released on bail of 4,000 dirhams, as was a young woman who was with them.
During their arrest, the woman accused the commune president and his friend of mistreating her on the way back to Fez from Meknes. The three accused were placed in custody on the orders of the competent public prosecutor’s office, before being presented to the king’s prosecutor on Monday, who decided to prosecute them on provisional release and set the next appearance before justice.
