Moroccan Official and Son Denied Entry at Madrid Airport, Deported to Tangier

Mohamed Amahjour, a member of the Party of Justice and Development, was denied access to Spanish territory. The deputy mayor of Tangier and his 17-year-old son were blocked on September 2 at Barajas airport in Madrid.
The PJD member and his 17-year-old son had to spend 24 hours at the Spanish capital’s airport before being repatriated the next day to Tangier on an Air Arabia flight, reports the Barlamane website.
Holding a long-stay tourist visa, the member of the ruling party’s general secretariat had taken a connecting flight. He was supposed to transit through Madrid then Amsterdam before reaching Belgium.
The same source adds that the Spanish authorities rejected the exit authorization abroad, issued on August 27 by the Wali of Tangier, despite the intervention of the Moroccan embassy in Madrid. The absence of valid reasons for the trip would be at the origin of the decision.
