Moroccan TV Mourns Popular Journalist Salaheddine El Ghomari, COVID Program Host

The television channel 2M paid tribute to journalist Salaheddine El Ghomari, who died on December 10 in Casablanca, following a heart attack at the age of 52. In a report of more than fifteen minutes in which the testimonies of the relatives were collected, the widow of the journalist gave a moving testimony.
Salaheddine El Ghomari was very popular with 2M viewers. His audience soared during the lockdown. He presented the "Asilat Corona" program broadcast in Arabic, during which he contributed to the fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. His death has moved his loved ones, colleagues and viewers who have gone through the difficult period of confinement with his advice and his faith in victory over the virus.
In this report dedicated to him, Leila Zopakova El Ghomari, the journalist’s widow, spoke for the first time and recounted how she met her late husband. "I met Salaheddine when I was studying, in my third year of journalism school in Russia. He is very interesting, always active," she says emotionally. She confesses to having been attracted by the artistic side of the Moroccan journalist. "I was drawing and he was passionate about photography." Visibly still in shock at this sudden and unexpected departure, the widow declares with barely restrained tears that she still cannot accept his death. "I still can’t accept his death. How could I live without him now? I don’t know. He was my other half, my family...," she confided.
