Moroccan Mountain Pass Ranked 5th Most Dangerous Road Globally

A Moroccan road located between Midelt and the town of Imilchil is ranked among the 12 most dangerous roads in the world.

The Jaffar Circus occupies the 5th place in the top 12 of the most dangerous roads in the world, established by the site dangerousroads.org which conducted a survey among motorists around the world. Located between Midelt and the town of Imilchil, the Jaffar Circus is one of the most difficult to access sites in Morocco. To get to this raw and very well-preserved natural site, you have to leave the city of Midelt, in 4x4 only and preferably in summer. The road is long and rocky, and the cliffs are steep.

The Bayburt D915 road (Turkey) located in the province of Trabzon in Turkey, connecting the city of Bayburt to the shores of the Black Sea, tops the ranking, dethroning the North Yungas Road, or Death Road (Bolivia) which takes 6th place. Built from mountain gravel in 1916 by Russian soldiers, this road is designated as the most dangerous in the world due to several factors. "The steep part is just horrible. The winding passages that descend to the foot of the cliffs are often so narrow that you can’t turn the first time," can be read in many testimonies.

Killar-Kishtwar Road (India) takes second place. It is followed by Khaltaro Valley Road (Pakistan) and Engineer Pass (United States). Fairy Meadows Road occupies 7th place, while Austrian Road (Kazakhstan) is positioned in 8th place. Then come BAM Road (Russia) and Skippers Canyon Road (New Zealand). Route 622 (Iceland) and Abano Pass (Georgia) close the podium.
