Moroccan Mother Accused of Attempted Murder of Three Children in Spain

Two children of Moroccan origin, victims of an attempted murder by their own mother, are in serious but stable condition in intensive care at the University Hospital of Navarre, in northern Spain. Their sister, less seriously injured, is currently recovering in the surgery department of the establishment.
According to information gathered by EFE, the mother of the children would have administered a toxic substance to them before attacking them with a bladed weapon. The injuries inflicted required the emergency admission of the 3 and 9 year old children to intensive care, while the 5 year old daughter was hospitalized in surgery. Their father, who was at work outside the city at the time of the events, is currently by their side.
The mother, currently in the hospital after a suicide attempt, remains under police surveillance. No date has been given for her possible release from the hospital and her transfer to the justice system. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing under the supervision of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard and the Court of First Instance of Tudela.
The community of Fitero, where this Moroccan family has lived for several years, is in shock. A silent gathering took place in the town square in support of the family. The town hall expressed its deep regret, condemning all forms of violence, especially that inflicted on the most vulnerable, the children. The family was preparing to leave for Morocco for the holidays.
