Moroccan Mining Firm Managem Secures Release of 241 kg Gold Shipment from Sudan

The 241 kg of gold blocked by the Sudanese authorities in early May have been released, according to a press release from the Moroccan company Managem. The local authorities had prevented the transfer operation due to a permit issue.
According to the Reuters news agency, the company stated in a press release that all administrative formalities have been completed and that the cargo can be exported in accordance with the regulations in force. "The local authorities have been able to recognize our scrupulous compliance with regulatory procedures," the statement said.
A helicopter carrying a quantity of gold belonging to the company Managem was blocked by the Sudanese authorities for lack of a transfer permit. The latter suspected illicit gold trafficking, especially since a change of interlocutors had taken place following the fall of the local government.
A subsidiary of the Al Mada holding company, the mining exploration company Managem produces gold, silver and cobalt, and operates in several African countries such as Sudan, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ivory Coast and Mali.
