Moroccan Milling Giant Forafric Invests $100 Million to Expand Wheat Processing Capacity

The milling group Forafric, a national flagship and custodian of the MayMouna brand, plans to strengthen its industrial tool, announcing an investment of 1 billion DH dedicated to expanding its processing capacity.
In this regard, the group has signed an agreement with the Turkish company Alapala Foreign Trade LLC to expand three existing plants and build three new ones, the management said in a press release, stating that the work is scheduled to last 30 months.
The objective is to strengthen the wheat and durum wheat processing capacity by 2,370 tons per day, the same source adds, noting that this expansion project should cost a total of 1 billion DH.
Forafric Maroc’s current crushing capacity is 2,420 tons per day, it is pointed out. Ultimately, the group intends to increase its supply of pasta and couscous, which currently stands at around 55,000 tons per year, in order to substitute imports.
