Moroccan Military Showcases Strength in US-Led ’African Lion’ Exercise

The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) carried out airborne and ground maneuvers during the Moroccan-American combined exercise African Lion 2021, which took place from June 7 to 18 in several regions of Morocco, including Mahbès in the Sahara.
Spectacular maneuvers. The website specialized in Defense issues, FAR-Maroc, published unprecedented footage of the airborne and ground maneuvers that the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) had carried out during African Lion 2021.
In a summary video, we see the various groups and regiments of the Moroccan army: the Royal Artillery, motorized infantry, mechanized infantry, airborne infantry, tank infantry, including the M1 Abrams, etc. engage in a demonstration of force. We also see squadrons of F-16 fighter jets, transport helicopters such as the CH-47 Chinook, Puma CN-ARY and CN-ASB providing air cover for the army.
The 17th edition of African Lion saw the participation of Morocco, the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Canada, Tunisia, Senegal, the Netherlands, Italy and NATO, in addition to military observers from about thirty countries representing Africa, Europe and America. The only notable absence is that of Spain. It was excluded from this exercise. The diplomatic crisis between the northern neighbor and Morocco persists.
