Moroccan Migrants Pay Thousands for Risky Sea Crossing to Spain

A boat was intercepted on Wednesday, September 25th, near the Alfau quay as it was about to transport 54 immigrants, all of Moroccan nationality, to Spain.
According to El pueblo de Ceuta, the price of this quick trip "is between 3,000 and 4,000 euros". According to the investigators who have already received the testimonies of more than one migrant intercepted after leaving the boat, the smugglers claim to have already been able to introduce several hundred people, "including minors", to the peninsula.
Normally, since October 2018, the Government has approved a royal decree banning "narcolanchas" on the coasts, after verifying that the mafias were using them not only for drug transport but also for the illegal trafficking of people.
The Judicial Police, which has already taken the measure of the situation, has also taken steps to enforce this ban decree. But criminal organizations are always one step ahead.
