Moroccan Migrants Arrested for Kidnapping Fisherman, Hijacking Boat in Lanzarote

Five Moroccan illegal immigrants were arrested in the Lanzarote region. They allegedly forced a fisherman to ensure their crossing of the Mediterranean after handcuffing him and seizing his boat.
The case came to light when the Red Cross exposed the fisherman’s difficulties to the police, reports laprovincia.es. The victim was being threatened by the suspects who threatened to report him to the authorities, accusing him of taking this risk for 1,000 euros for each illegal immigrant.
According to the investigation results, the fisherman had contacted several people to help him with his daily tasks. During the work, he would have received a blow to the head with a stick before finding himself against his will at sea, gagged and tied up.
Pending their upcoming appearance in court, three of the suspects are accused of crimes, threats and illegal detention, while two others are charged with alleged crimes of threats, illegal detention and against the rights of foreign citizens.
