Moroccan Midfielder Selim Amallah Wins Top Honor for Arab Players in Belgian League

The Moroccan Selim Amallah was crowned "Belgian Lion", a trophy that rewards "the best player of Arab/Berber origin playing in Belgium". It was on Monday, during a virtual ceremony.
At 24 years old, Selim Amallah becomes the winner of the eleventh edition of the "Belgian Lion" award and thus succeeds Mehdi Carcela, the defending champion. Amallah was nominated along with Mehdi Carcela, Nacer Chadli (Anderlecht), Faiz Selemani (Kortrijk), Sami Allagui (Mouscron), Idriss Saadi (Cercle Bruges) and Samy Mmaee (Saint-Trond). According to the same source, Sakina Ouzraoui of Anderlecht received the "Belgian Lioness" award. Karim Belhocine of Charleroi was named best coach and Loïs Openda of FC Bruges was elected best prospect. The best Belgian footballer of Arab origin abroad is Marouane Fellaini. Romar Rahou, for his part, was rewarded for futsal. The award for best Arab-origin scorer went to Nacer Chadli. During the ceremony, Ramdani Abdelmonaime also received an award for his efforts in the exercise of his profession.
