Moroccan Man Gets 8-Year Sentence for Killing Wife’s Harasser in Casablanca

The criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Casablanca sentenced a 27-year-old man to eight years in prison for the murder of his wife’s harasser, a 21-year-old youth from his neighborhood.
It all started with a dispute between the defendant and the victim after the latter insulted his wife. He struck the harasser with punches to the point where he fell, hitting his head on the ground. Admitted to the emergency department at Ibn Rochd Hospital, the young man succumbed to his injuries, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc. What followed? The author of the homicide turned himself in to the police.
At the bar, the defendant recounts the facts. "He was harassing my wife every time she passed through the street to go home," he said, claiming he had no intention of taking revenge on him, but only to ask him to stop harassing her. He also claimed never to have been a violent individual. A statement confirmed by his neighbors in a letter addressed to the Court of Appeal of Casablanca. However, the justice system was convinced neither by his statements nor by the testimony of the neighbors. The verdict is in: the defendant is sentenced to eight years in prison.
