Moroccan Man Sentenced for Foiled Drone Attack Plot on Barcelona Soccer Stadium

Mohammed Yassine Amrani, the pro-Daesh Moroccan jihadist, accused of attempting a terrorist attack against the Camp Nou (FC Barcelona stadium) during a match, was sentenced to three years in prison for self-radicalization, after admitting the facts and reaching an agreement with the prosecution.
The defendant tried, using a drone loaded with explosives, to carry out a terrorist attack against the Camp Nou during a Clasico FC Barcelona-Real Madrid match. Having admitted the facts during his trial on Monday, the public prosecutor withdrew the charge of belonging to a terrorist organization for which he had requested nine years in prison against him, reports La Razón.
In his statement to the Civil Guard after his arrest, Mohammed Yassine Amrani had already confessed to having been contacted on social networks by a certain Mohamed Nadir, an Iraqi resident, who would have integrated him into jihadist groups. In the indictment, the prosecution explains that after undergoing a behavioral "transformation" in March 2020, the defendant was recruited by members of Daesh to carry out this terrorist attack against the Camp Nou.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant adhered to the jihadist ideology on March 29 of the same year and agreed to carry out terrorist attacks in conflict zones or die as a martyr. For this mission, he had received the order from Daesh to train in the handling of drones and followed a "self-radicalization jihadist training," adds the prosecution.
Yassine Amrani regularly exchanged with several Daesh supporters. At the time of his arrest, 8,273 messages were found on his mobile phone, including news about Islamic State attacks, publications and propaganda. He was ultimately sentenced to three years in prison for a crime of self-radicalization.
