Moroccan Man Kills Wife, Burns Body in Deadly Property Dispute

A man in his fifties living in the Aït Baha region has just killed his wife by hitting her several times before pouring gasoline on her body and setting it on fire. The reason is purely material: a dispute over the ownership of the family home.

The woman, aged 45, is said to have complained several times to the authorities about ill-treatment from her husband. The issue of home ownership was a constant source of dispute. According to Skynews, the man and the woman had been living together for 19 years.

The deceased is said to have brought 4 lawsuits against her husband and killer, one for assault and battery, another for divorce and an action for eviction from the house. The land, in fact, belonged to the wife. But according to neighbors, she had agreed with her husband to build their home there together, which was done. And this is how after that problems arose that plagued the couple’s life.

The killer is said to have, in a fit of rage during an argument, taken his children out of the house, two sons aged 8 and 16 and a 10-year-old daughter, before locking the door and hitting his wife 4 times on the head, then hitting her several times in the chest. She did not survive...

But far from stopping there, he is said to have poured gasoline on her body and then, after setting it on fire, calmly watched the scene. It was only when seeing the smoke that the neighbors finally alerted the authorities. The man is said to have then fled. But he was arrested by the authorities as he was trying to leave the region. He was brought before the Court of Appeal of Agadir.
