Moroccan Man Kills Imam Father in Spain, Claims to "Chase Devil"

A family tragedy has shaken the peaceful town of Vilafant, in northern Spain. A 22-year-old man of Moroccan origin coldly stabbed his father, a respected member of the local Muslim community, who served as an imam in a mosque in the city.
The victim, aged 50, had just returned home when he was tragically attacked. According to sources from the Catalan police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, who were alerted by another family member present at the scene, the suspect was subsequently hospitalized in a psychiatric facility due to mental health issues that may have been the cause of this tragic drama.
The young man, apparently disturbed, would have shouted that he "wanted to chase the devil from the house" before committing the irreparable. The attack was brutal, the son seizing a kitchen knife and a screwdriver to assault his father, stabbing him in the throat and back. The man, taken by surprise, was unable to defend himself against the unexpected violence of his son.
After this act, the suspect barricaded himself in the bathroom of their apartment. He threw the two weapons out the window before the police intervened, requiring them to force the bathroom door to subdue and arrest him. A neighbor, an indirect witness to the events, told investigators that the young man had been shouting from inside the apartment all afternoon, suggesting a tragic outcome to this day.
