Moroccan Man Faces Trial for Cat Killing Caught on Video, Sparking Outrage

A man was arrested in Tetouan after killing a cat. Prosecuted under arrest, he will ultimately be tried on provisional release.
In a video circulated on social media, we see the defendant pinning a cat under his feet. The animal dies on the spot. Its death provoked the anger of animal protection associations but also of Internet users. The Association for the Defense of Animals and Nature in Tetouan filed a complaint with the public prosecutor.
The individual was arrested and then prosecuted under arrest. After receiving a medical certificate presented by the defense of the defendant and attesting that the person concerned suffers from a mental illness, the general prosecutor’s office at the court of first instance in Tetouan decided to try him on provisional release, reports the Arabic daily Assabah. His trial will open on September 15.
